ErieID CEO named to Mayor’s Business Council

Karl Sanchack, president and CEO of the Erie Innovation District, has been named to Mayor Joe Schember’s inaugural Business Council, which will assist with shaping local policy and identifying readily achievable economic development strategies for the City of Erie.
According to a news release issued by the mayor’s office, “The goal of the Mayor’s Business Council is to improve the environment for business creation and job growth along with fostering a strong business climate in the City of Erie by:
• Establishing a mechanism of collaboration between industry, education, and government
• Exploring ways to improve city hall’s customer service, and ability to provide timely, quality service and value to the taxpayer
• Evaluating strategies and making recommendations to diversify the local economy and grow the tax base, and
• Providing a voice for public policy decisions along with ongoing feedback to city staff.”

In accepting the appointment, Sanchack said, “I’m honored that the Mayor Schember has given this opportunity to the Erie Innovation District. To respect the implied faith, my pledge to the community will be to voice and shape the shared interests and equities of our emerging technology partners, entrepreneurs, businesses and academic institutions. I anticipate that through clear mission intent and open collaboration with City Hall that we’ll make marked progress toward becoming the security services district of the future.”
